The Pacific coast for scuba diving in Colombia isn’t the first spot that travelers think of.
More often than not, Santa Marta or Cartagena come to mind, and yet..
If there’s one place in Colombia where you’ll have the experience of a lifetime, it’s on the Pacific coast!
It’s one of the places on the planet with the greatest marine biodiversity, and the passageway for numerous migrations of marine fauna such as humpback whales, sardines, turtles or whale sharks… nothing less!

Why dive on Colombia’s Pacific coast?
The magic of the Pacific Coast seabed
It’s simple: because it’s one of the most incredible places on the planet for scuba diving, plain and simple! Colombia’s Pacific waters are one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots, exceptionally rich in marine flora and fauna.
The Pacific coast of Choco, apart from the beauty of its landscapes, its culture and its wild, unspoilt environment, is a unique place for scuba diving. Depending on the season, you can admire some of the most incredible sights nature has to offer. The Pacific coast is the migration route for many species of marine life, and every year offers some exceptional events:
- Whale Shark Season
- Humpback Whale Season
- Huge shoals of Sardines season
It’s possible to dive almost all year round on the Pacific coast and enjoy the experience of a lifetime, whatever the season.

The Pacific coast of Choco was our favorite destination of our 2018 trip… the region between Nuqui and Bahia Solano is incredible, wild, sublime and the nature of a nameless exuberance. We were there during whale season, and it was a sight to behold!
In February 2020, we repeated the experience in the Pacific, but this time for diving. Whale shark season was about to start, but unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to see them. That said, the experience was unforgettable!
Hello, I wanted to know if the dive centers in the Pacific have reopened since your article which dates back to 2020? Thank you in advance and have a nice day!
Hi Eva, no, the diving center in Arusi hasn’t reopened. Instead, our friend Alfonso at Casa Cielito offers outings for certified divers only. These outings are simply accompanied by Diaro, the first and only certified diver (PADI Advanced) from the village, who knows the different dive sites well. Alternatively, there’s a professional diving center near Guachalito called “Kakiri”.
Hello,
May I have your guide contact for whale watching please?
Thank you very much ☺️
Hello, the dive center in Arusi we dived with closed during the covid. We don’t have any other contacts in the area at the moment. In the Bahia Solano area, there seem to be more dive centers.
