Where to stay in Cali: the best hotels and the best areas

Which are the best hotels in the best areas of Cali ? In this post we’ll give you all our tips for finding the best hotels to stay in Cali.

Located in the south of the country, just a few hours from the Pacific coast, Cali is a hyper-dynamic city and the country’s cultural capital. Despite its problems with delinquency, Cali has a pleasant climate and its inhabitants are particularly welcoming.

Cali is a cultural melting pot where the diversity of the Colombian population comes together, including the country’s largest Afro-Colombian community.

Where to stay in Cali: the best hotels and the best areas

If you locate these neighborhoods on a map, they’re all pretty much in the same area. On the whole, the best areas to stay in Cali are around the historic center, but in the center.

We don’t recommend staying in the central area around Plaza Cayzedo. It’s an area where security is more complicated and you really need to be more careful at night.

    San Antonio

This is our favorite district, with its great atmosphere, restaurants, bars and cultural life.

    El Peñon

To the north of San Antonio, a safe neighborhood with more upscale hotels

    Miraflores

A quieter, more residential district to the south of San Antonio, fairly close to the main points of interest

    Granada

Another residential area of Cali, more upmarket and quieter, although with a few bars and restaurants

    Neighborhood life (going out)

There are plenty of restaurants, cafés and bars within walking distance of the San Antonio district. The nightlife is lively, and every evening (and especially at weekends), the Parc San Antonio welcomes the young caleñas who come to picnic and hang out when the evening breeze picks up: a real treat!
