The atmosphere and landscapes are particularly different between the wild beaches of the Pacific and those of the Caribbean. And even on the Caribbean coast, the paradisiacal beaches of Capurgana have little in common with the overcrowded beaches of Cartagena or those at the end of the world in Guajira.

Colombia’s Pacific coast is one of the most isolated regions in the country. Only the towns of Buenaventura and Tumaco have land access. The rest of the Pacific coast is inaccessible by road.
The Choco Pacific Coast is our favorite part of Colombia, and one to which we’ve returned several times. But we’re looking forward to discovering other parts of this incomparable coastline.

The Caribbean coast is one of Colombia’s most visited regions, which is quite the opposite of the Pacific coast, in fact! It boasts ultra-touristy cities like Cartagena and Santa Marta, iconic beaches like Tayrona Park and easy access all along the coast (except for the Capurgana and Sapzurro parts).
