Transfer by public cab

Official cabs are yellow and have a number plate. White cabs are used for trips outside Medellín, for example to the international airport at Rio Negro. New electric cabs have appeared and are green in color. They are a little more expensive than the yellow ones.
In Medellin, cab fares are determined by a taximeter. Make sure your driver activates it before setting off. At the end of the journey, he should stop the meter and inform you of the fare. Cabs are easily accessible from the airport exit, and service is available 24 hours a day.
- Perfect for: Those with a good command of Spanish who can distinguish authentic cabs.
- Slight disadvantage: Waiting at the airport exit. Some drivers raise the rates for tourists. In all cases, an additional cost is applied for a transfer from the airport.

Good to know
Centro comercial San Diego
Centro comercial San Diego is a bit like the unofficial bus station when it comes to airport transfers. Located in Medellín’s Candelaria district, it’s easy to reach by metro or cab.
Address: Calle 33 #42B-06 – Medellín
Subway: Line A – Exposiciones station
During the day, there’s always a queue of cabs at the entrance to the mall. If your flight arrives late, we’d advise you to take a cab direct from the airport. But if you still decide to take the bus to Medellín, then once you’ve arrived at the mall, try to find an official cab quickly (yellow cabs) or head straight for the Exposiciones metro station.
