Choosing a Reputable Rental Company
Licensing and Insurance
Ensure that the rental company is properly licensed and insured. This protects you in case of accidents or damages.
Fleet Variety
A reputable company will offer a range of boat options (yachts, catamarans, speedboats, etc.), allowing you to choose based on your group size and desired experience.
Safety Equipment
Inquire about the safety equipment available on the boat, including life jackets, first aid kits, and communication devices.
What to Look for in a Captain
Experience and Qualifications
Ask about the captain’s experience, including their familiarity with the local waters and knowledge of the area. A licensed captain with local experience must be your priority.
Communication Skills
A good captain should be able to communicate effectively, ensuring that you understand the itinerary, safety protocols, and any potential changes due to weather or other factors.
Customer Service
Look for a captain that is friendly, accommodating, and attentive to your needs. They should be willing to answer your questions and provide recommendations for activities and locations.

Pricing Considerations
Understand the Cost Structure
Clarify what is included in the rental price. Some companies may offer all-inclusive packages that cover fuel, food, drinks, and equipment, while others may charge separately for these.
Deposit and Payment Terms
Be aware of the deposit required to secure your booking and the payment methods accepted. Some companies may require full payment in advance, while others may allow partial payments.
Tipping
It is customary to tip the captain and crew at the end of your trip. A common guideline is to tip 10-20% of the total cost, depending on the service provided.
Safety Considerations

Ensure that the captain provides a safety briefing before departing. This should cover emergency procedures and the location of safety equipment on board.

Stay informed about the weather conditions on the day of your rental. Be prepared for changes and listen to your captain’s advice regarding safe boating practices.
Limitations on Alcohol Consumption
If you plan to enjoy drinks during your trip, discuss this with your captain. Responsible drinking is essential for safety on the water.
Booking in Advance
Especially during peak tourist seasons, it is advisable to book your boat rental in advance. This ensures you secure your preferred boat and captain, as availability can be limited.
