During our roadtrip between Bogota and Santa Marta, we had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful boutique hotel in Barichara: Casa Oniri.

If the village of Barichara is magnificent, so is the hotel, ideally located. We had a superb stay here. It’s more of a budget hotel, but excellent value for money!

Hotel Casa Oniri de Barichara is a small , quiet hotel in a beautiful colonial house with few rooms: two double rooms and four multiple rooms for groups or large families.

However, please note that children are only accepted from the age of 7, to ensure the peace and quiet of all guests, as all rooms overlook the central patio.

The Travel insurance we recommend in Colombia

We live in Colombia, and we can confirm that private healthcare is very expensive here. Private clinics in Colombia generally only admit patients who have insurance.

Casa Oniri Hotel where to stay in Barichara

The Casa Oniri hotel is located right in the center of Barichara, just a few steps from the main square, which is very convenient for exploring the village on foot. It’s a really great location.

The hotel’s all-white facade may go unnoticed, but it’s also a way of standing out, as it’s the only all-white facade on the street! Typical Barichara houses usually have stone base walls.

Like all old colonial houses, it’s only when you open the door that you discover the beauty of the place, and the Casa Oniri hotel is no exception. A few touches of modernity here and there blend very well with the colonial architecture of the house.

What are the rooms like at the Casa Oniri boutique hotel?

Hotel in Barichara

The rooms at Hotel Casa Oniri are beautiful and comfortable, very clean and with a lovely decor. Our room had a large double bed, with good bedding, and a very spacious and pleasant bathroom.

All rooms overlook the sublime central patio. As a result, our room lacked a little natural light, but this is very often the case in Colombian colonial houses. Only two family rooms have windows overlooking the street.

What’s the value for money

Hotel Casa Oniri in Barichara

The price of the rooms for the services provided is very good. It’s an ideal place to treat yourself in a charming hotel in the center of Barichara.

Positive vs. Negative

What we liked

  • The comfort of the rooms
  • Staff service
  • Room decoration
  • The magnificent patio
  • The rooftop terrace with a beautiful view of the church tower and Barichara’s rooftops
  • The hotel’s central location, allowing you to discover everything on foot.

What we didn’t like

  • The lack of natural light in the rooms, but that’s always the problem with beautiful colonial houses: you can’t have everything!
  • Some oddly arranged storage units.
