This is where we stayed in Manizales. It’s a beautiful, carefully restored traditional coffee finca located on the outskirts of the city. The meals are excellent, and it’s also a great spot for birdwatching.

The best budget option in Murillo! A hostel located just outside the village (a 5-minute walk from the main square) in a beautiful setting. It’s basic but clean, with hot showers and a caring, attentive team. They also run a great restaurant in the village.

We chose to stay in this beautiful cabin in Filandia and can’t recommend it highly enough. Gloria is a great host! You’ll find yourself in a peaceful setting, just 15 minutes from Filandia’s main square.

We tried out this hotel, a little way from the village, which has its own beach. For those who want the peace and luxury of stepping out of their room to take a dip in the water or sip a cocktail in the shade of the coconut palms, it’s perfect.
Santa Marta

This is the hotel where we stayed during our stay in Santa Marta. We recommend staying on the top floor, where the rooms are brighter. Nice decor, good service, and conveniently located right in the historic center.

San Agustin

Finca El Cielo is where we stayed in San Agustin and we recommend it 100%! The hotel is beautiful, the garden magnificent, the welcome is perfect, and even though it’s a bit far from the village, you can get to various archaeological sites on foot.

We loved our stay at Flora del rio! The bedding was just perfect, and the hosts were top-notch. Very good breakfasts with coffee from the finca. The hotel is right in the middle of nature and just a 10-minute walk from the village.

It was a lady we met on the bus who recommended the Onoma Hotel (formerly La perla del Sinu). It’s conveniently located next to the main square and not far from the tourist malecon, the promenade that runs alongside the river. The hotel offers a nice view from some rooms and especially from the rooftop terrace!
San José del Guaviare

Playa Guio is a haven of peace in the middle of nature, a 20-minute cab ride from the center of San José del Guaviare. On site, you’ll find the warmth of the Melo family, a large common room where you can eat and have a good time, a large hut for those who want to sleep cheaply in a hammock, and two private cabins for those who want privacy.

A hotel where we stayed in Yopal at the end of our return from Safari Llanero. A nice place in a quiet area of town, in a pretty garden with a swimming pool, large, clean and modern rooms, and a very warm welcome from the staff!

A well-thought-out construction, resolutely turned towards the outdoors and nature, with our feet in the sand. Breakfast included in the price for a sublime service. A truly eco-responsible approach, working in alliance with the local community.

This is the hostal where we stayed on our first visit to Salento. It’s a house on the outskirts of the village, about 20mn from the village on foot, 5mn by Jeep. Gabriel is an endearing character and the atmosphere is cool. Everything is meticulously maintained.
El Valle

From simple cabins on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, a home with Mama Orbe’s family and a unique sea turtle protection project in El Valle, or how to combine business with pleasure. If Mama Orbe is a little far from the village, it’s a real opportunity to disconnect and share with the family, and do the activities with them. Highly recommended!
Bogota, Candelaria

Sam has stayed here and the hotel is up to the standards of fine modern European hotels. Ideally located on the Plaza de los Periodistas, it’s close to the Transmilenio, the Monserrate and the entrance to Candelaria.

A great hostal in Taganga, really. The people at reception are super friendly and super helpful, the rooms are clean and pleasant, the atmosphere is cool, the terrace is great and there’s a “French” restaurant inside that’s really good.
Minca

Welcome to an organic cocoa and coffee finca. This is where we stayed during our visit to Minca. Ask for the room with a view of the Sierra Nevada, just sublime. The room rate includes the coffee/cocoa tour.

This well-known hostal, which has made a name for itself elsewhere in Colombia, was tested by Sam during his trip in 2016. A word of advice: ask to stay in the “annex” if you want to be quieter.

This hostal in the Getsemani district was tested by Sam in 2013. Since then, a roof terrace with jacuzzi has been added. But don’t expect luxury: this hostal offers rooms with very basic comforts. But it’s perfectly located, right on Calle 9.

This is where we stayed, and if you’ve read our article, there’s not much to add! 😉 Please note, however, that we’re not talking about backpacker rates, but more Ecolodge-style pleasure rates.

This is where we stayed during our stay at Villa de Leiva. A beautiful, romantic hotel high above the village, with large bay windows overlooking the surrounding mountains, terrace and fireplace if required… we loved it. The hotel is off the beaten track, so you’ll need to take a cab to get to the village.
Mompox

This is where we stayed during our stay in Mompox. Hotel Bioma is perfect for those who want to treat themselves. With its blend of colonial and modern decor, swimming pool on the patio and roof-top overlooking the rooftops of Mompox, it offers top-notch services. To top it all off, the Arepa de Huevo breakfast is delicious!

This is where we stayed and we recommend it 100%! Located a 5-minute drive from the village center, the atmosphere is very tranquil. The rooms are basic but clean, and the terrace overlooking the Estoraques is just perfect!
Giron

During our stay in Giron, we stayed at the Chill out hotel. Superbly located in the historic center of Giron, the hotel offers beautifully decorated rooms in the colonial style.

Hotel Casa Oniri is where we stayed during our visit to Barichara. It’s a superb boutique hotel located in the heart of the city, just a stone’s throw from Barichara’s main square. The little extra: a rooftop with a view of the cathedral!

El Portal de Don Luis is a finca ideally located just a stone’s throw from Guadalupe’s central square, yet right in the middle of nature. The view over the valley is sublime and Rafael, the owner, is a darling! The facilities are simple, everything is very clean and it was perfect for us! You can pitch your own tent or rent one.
